We all have this gift to a degree, but I think I've found an answer for myself here especially.

Also called Empaths

Clairsentience (feeling/touching)

In the field of parapsychology, clairsentience is a form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person acquires psychic knowledge primarily by feeling.[23] The word is from the French clair, “clear,” + sentience, “feeling,” and is ultimately derived from the Latin clarus, “clear,” + sentiens, derived from sentire, “to feel”.
In addition to parapsychology, the term also plays a role in some religions. For example: clairsentience is one of the six human special functions mentioned or recorded inBuddhism. It is an ability that can be obtained at advanced meditation level. Generally the term refers to a person who can feel the vibration of other people. There are many different degrees of clairsentience ranging from the perception of diseases of other people to the thoughts or emotions of other people. The ability differs from third eye in that this kind of ability cannot have a vivid picture in the mind. Instead, a very vivid feeling can form.

The Thirteen Gatekeepers-Last Night's Dream

I have been on a spiritual journey for quite some time. It is ever-evolving as I learn more and more about myself, being human, being spiritual and understanding the universe. I'm taken back to Buddhism time and again. Most recently, I was forwarded an e-mail by an acquaintance about a small meditation circle that meets on Sundays. I've always wanted to learn how to meditate, but never could sit still quite long enough to get in that zone. This group follows the teachings of Anam Thubten. I was able to read an excerpt from his book "No Self, No Problem" and found it to be very on point, down-to-earth and oh-so-enlightening. He's all about the "Keep It Simple, Stupid" style of teaching. I found that in the 30 minutes of meditating in that group, answers to questions and issues I've had for a long time came pouring through me. I wanted to tell everyone, but, of course, my questions weren't the same as theirs, I'm sure. I felt like I was bursting with joy and just wanted to share it with SOMEONE, but I suppose we are all on our own journey and come to places of wonder individually. It's exasperating to me to try to share what I've learned with someone that's not able to experience my wonder. I truly believe in this saying that I read a long time ago..."When the student is ready, the teacher will come." I find that when someone is ready to hear what I am learning, they will inquire, so there's no point in trying to explain it to someone that's not there yet. I digress. I titled this blog before I started writing. I wanted to record this interesting phrase that came to mind as soon as I woke up this morning, "The 13 Gatekeepers"...it kept repeating in my head, like a song that gets stuck there and won't go away. I decided to look it up to see what in the world is out there about thirteen gatekeepers (other than the haunted house, The 13th Gate, in downtown BR...hmmm...now I wonder where they came up with THAT name). I found this link about the Thirteen  Gates of Necronomicon, which I've never in my life heard of before. I did a google search and found this has to do with the Anunnaki gods of creation...interesting. Never heard of them either, but definitely want to research this further. It's about the Babylonian worldview of creation and has been debated about having an influence on the book of Genesis.

This is a dream I'll definitely have to go back into. Very interesting.

Update: Since this dream I have found my birth father and learned of my Jewish heritage. I have had an interest in Kabballah and Jewish Mysticism so I decided to plug that in along with "13 gatekeepers" and came up with this:

In religion

[edit]Roman Catholicism

The apparitions of the Virgin of Fátima in 1917 were claimed to occur on the 13th of six consecutive months.[3]

[edit]Sikhism

According to famous Sakhi (Evidence) or story of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, when he was an accountant at a town of Sultanpur Lodhi, he was distributing grocery to people and when he gave groceries to the 13th person he stopped there because in Gurmukhi and Hindi the word 13 is called Terah, which means yours. And Guru Nanak kept on saying, "Yours, yours, yours..." remembering God. People reported to the emperor that Guru Nanak was giving out free food to the people. When treasures were checked, there was more money than before.
The Vaisakhi which commemorates the creation of "Khalsa" or pure Sikh was celebrated on April 13 for many years.

[edit]Judaism

[edit]Other

  • In Mesoamerican divination, 13 is the number of important cycles of fortune/misfortune (see Trecena).
  • 13 is the age that a Pagan or Wiccan usually starts to learn Witchcraft.[dubious ]
  • Traditionally, there are 13 witches in a Wiccan coven.[citation needed]

[edit]Unlucky 13

The number 13 is associated with bad luck in some countries, and even has a specifically recognized phobia, Triskaidekaphobia, a word which was coined in 1911. Friday the 13th has been considered an unlucky day since the 1800s, as a combination between an unlucky day, Friday, and the number 13. Another theory as to why the date and number 13 is considered unlucky is that, on the day of Friday the 13th after the final Crusade the pope had sent out men to capture and burn alive the last 13 Knights Templar in order to put an end to the Crusades.
A second theory links the bad luck associated with the number 13 with Jesus Christ's last supper where the persons around the table, counting the Christ and the twelve apostles, was, indeed, thirteen. This would also be the reason why it is considered unlucky to have 13 guests at a table. Noting there has never been any Christian writing or work which states the number 13 as being unlucky. In Christianity the gathering of Jesus Christ and the 12 Apostles is considered very positive.
Another theory states that the number 13 is unlucky because, when in years where there were 13 full moons instead of 12, it made it difficult for the monks who were in charge of the calendars. "This was considered a very unfortunate circumstance, especially by the monks who had charge of the calendar of thirteen months for that year, and it upset the regular arrangement of church festivals. For this reason thirteen came to be considered an unlucky number."[4]

[edit]Lucky 13

In Sikhism, the number 13 is considered a special number since 13 is tera in Punjabi, which also means "yours" (as in, "I am yours, O Lord"). The legend goes that when Guru Nanak Dev was taking stock of items as part of his employment with a village merchant, he counted from 1 to 13 (in Punjabi) as one does normally; and thereafter he would just repeat "tera", since all items were God's creation. The merchant confronted Guru Nanak about this, but found everything to be in order after the inventory was checked. April 13 also usually turns out to be Vaisakhi every year, which is the Sikh New Year and the major Sikh Holiday.
Several successful sports figures have worn the number 13. Ozzie Guillénmanager of the 2005 World Series Champion Chicago White Sox, has worn the number throughout his baseball career. Alex Rodriguez began wearing it upon joining the New York Yankees (three, the number he had previously worn, is retired by the Bronx Bombers to honorBabe Ruth). Dan Marino, an American football player known for passing the 2nd most yards in NFL history, wore the number 13. Basketball great Wilt Chamberlain wore the number 13 on his jersey throughout his NBA career. Also, FIBA rules require a player to wear the number in international competitions (only numbers from 4 to 15 could be worn, and as there are 12 players, one must wear 13); Chris Mullin, who wore #20 in college and #17 in the NBA, wore #13 for both (1984 and 1992) of his Olympic appearances.Shaquille O'Neal wore #13 in 1996; Tim Duncan wore #13 in 2004. Steve Nash is currently wearing it for the Phoenix SunsYao Ming wore it in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.Mats SundinPavel DatsyukBill Guerin, and Michael Cammalleri wear 13 in the NHL. One of Iceland's all time best handball players, Sigurður Sveinsson, wore the number 13 when he played for the national team. In association football, both Gerd Müller and Michael Ballack have favoured the number 13, among others.
In Italy, 13 is also considered to be a lucky number, although in Campania the expression 'tredici' (meaning 13) is said when one considers their luck to have turned for the worse.
Colgate University also considers 13 to be a lucky number. They were founded in 1819 by 13 men with 13 dollars, 13 prayers and 13 articles.[5] (To this day, members of the Colgate community consider the number 13 a good omen.) In fact, the campus address is 13 Oak Drive in Hamilton, New York, and the male a cappella group is called the Colgate 13.
In the Mayan Tzolk'in calender, trecenas mark cycles of 13 day periods. The pyramids are also set up in 9 steps divided into 7 days and 6 nights, 13 days total.

[edit]Coperos

The number 13 in the Coperos religion (small culture in brazil) is like a God number. All coperos must know that this number can save the humankind.

Maimonides' 13 principles of faith

13 Principles of Faith:
  1. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, is the Creator and Guide of everything that has been created; He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.
  2. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, is One, and that there is no unity in any manner like His, and that He alone is our God, who was, and is, and will be.
  3. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, has no body, and that He is free from all the properties of matter, and that there can be no (physical) comparison to Him whatsoever.
  4. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, is the first and the last.
  5. I believe with perfect faith that to the Creator, Blessed be His Name, and to Him alone, it is right to pray, and that it is not right to pray to any being besides Him.
  6. I believe with perfect faith that all the words of the prophets are true.
  7. I believe with perfect faith that the prophecy of Moses our teacher, peace be upon him, was true, and that he was the chief of the prophets, both those who preceded him and those who followed him.
  8. I believe with perfect faith that the entire Torah that is now in our possession is the same that was given to Moses our teacher, peace be upon him.
  9. I believe with perfect faith that this Torah will not be exchanged, and that there will never be any other Torah from the Creator, Blessed be His Name.
  10. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, knows all the deeds of human beings and all their thoughts, as it is written, "Who fashioned the hearts of them all, Who comprehends all their actions" (Psalms 33:15).
  11. I believe with perfect faith that the Creator, Blessed be His Name, rewards those who keep His commandments and punishes those that transgress them.
  12. I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah; and even though he may tarry, nonetheless, I wait every day for his coming.
  13. I believe with perfect faith that there will be a revival of the dead at the time when it shall please the Creator, Blessed be His name, and His mention shall be exalted for ever and ever.

Pieces of my Soul are strung from childhood to young adulthood

I often have dreams that take me back to three different points in my life. One is my childhood in Arkansas where I was abused, abandoned by my only blood relative to backwards rural pedophiles. According to the book I'm currently reading, The Three Only Things by Robert Moss, this could account for soul-loss. If you experienced a traumatic event, a piece of your soul could remain in that place where the trauma occurred. I am often back in that trailor park, that back bedroom, that top bunk, that bus stop, walking in that neighborhood. It's never a pleasant dream. The second place is with my mom and stepdad when I found her and moved back in with her after having been abandoned by her for six torturous years from ages 7-14. I lived with them from ages 14-18. I'm often living with them again, trying to break free, having no freedom, no choices, no place or means to get away from them. These dreams are always very tumultuous. The third common place my dream self dwells is in Ohio at the home of my ex-fiancee's parents where I lived for 8 months while he was overseas in Japan and Korea. For the first time I was in a home with two loving parents who doted on me, cared for me and were there to lean on when I needed to lean. I'm often trying to get back to that house, but I am not welcome there. After the relationship ended, they had to stick by their son and that meant cutting ties with me. I've never fully recovered from the loss of those two people I had grown to love so much as if they were my own parents. According to this book, you can recover those lost parts of your soul. I am so interested to find out how!

Acid Rain Dream

I'm walking down rain-soaked streets and see all of the cars and streetlights being covered with plastic covers by men in haz-mat suits. I wonder what is going on. Something tells me it is to protect them from the chemicals that will be raining down from the sky that can melt or damage everything. I go inside and its kind of an art gallery or hotel and the same people are covering the lights and artwork with special protective coverings. I'm looking around and noticing spots they missed and wondering why they would go to all of that trouble and then not even do it thoroughly.

I had this dream last night and then my husband comes home today to tell me that National Geographic is coming to the nuclear site where he works to do some filming. I decide to do an internet search to see what interest they have there and found an old article: Nuclear Power, Risking a Comeback from 1996. In this economic impact study Economic Benefits of Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, nuclear power is touted for being cleaner and emitting less greenhouse gases than its fossil fuel counterparts: "Nuclear power is one of the cleanest conventional means of producing electricity. Grand Gulf operations avoid significant greenhouse gas emissions that otherwise would be generated if the same amount of electricity were produced by fossil fuels. In 2004, Grand Gulf avoided the emission of 48,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, 16,000 tons of nitrous oxide and 9.4 million tons of carbon dioxide. Sulfur dioxide can produce acid rain, and nitrous oxide is a precursor to ground-level ozone." The interesting thing here, too, is that Grand Gulf is the plant my husband will be most-likely heading to next. Hmmm...I guess my dreams are telling me to start paying attention to this!

Wolf: The Power Animal of Today's Meditation

I have been reading the book "Conscious Dreaming" by Robert Moss for a while now (I read a little here and there when I have time so it's taking a long time to get through it). Mr. Moss often talks about using Shamanic Drumming to get into the dreamscape and even for "waking dreams". I decided to try this out today and found a nice YouTube video called Shamanic Journey Meditation to talk me through. It was difficult since I was in the middle of my day with Isaac (my three-year-old) on my lap listening with me and Liliana (my 8-month-old) next to me playing, but I thought I'd just listen to see what would happen anyway. The voice of the woman instructs you on a visualization to help you ask a question and to find your guide or "power animal". I was frequently interrupted to answer questions from my son and to acknowledge my daughter so I figured that was going to prevent me from seeing anyone or anything, but at the end I was able to get a quick glimpse of my "spiritual helper". I quickly visualized the outline of a wolf's face!

My inquiry was how I could get my mind in order and to see what I needed to focus on and how to deal with our current financial difficulties (too much week not enough money). I decided to look up the "wolf power animal" (as I have no prior knowledge whatsoever of "power animals" and what the "wolf" would symbolize and was given this description (kinda eerie!):

Read about your "power animal" or "spirit guide" here.

The wolf has been much misunderstood and maligned in history and is not the vicious intruder of western fairy tales.  The wolf is a shy, yet very sociable creature with strong rules of behavior.  Fear of the wolf is perhaps born when its eerie howl raises the hackles on our neck and in our souls.   Maybe we do not fear the wolf at all, but only the wild nature within ourselves.  To American Indians, the wolf is said to be "teacher" medicine. We study wolfs ways of hunting and their social structure.  The wolf is associated with the Dog Star, Sirus and some cultures belief humans came from this distant star.  Wolf populations are threatened in the lower 48 states, but abundant in Alaska and Canada.  Wolf has much to teach us, if only we will listen.
WOLF MEDICINE
  • Wolves live in a communal structure like humans. The Alpha male and female lead a strict social order.   Next in the order are Beta wolves who do not breed and serve as nursemaids for pups of the pack.  The Omega wolf is at the bottom rung and is the 'scapegoat' in situations when the pack is being attacked.  Often the Omega wolf is forced not to eat when food is scarce.  If wolf has entered the forest of your mind, it may be to teach you that all things in nature have order amid chaos and to accept your duties in life, whether they be leadership roles or otherwise, with humility and strength.
  • The wolf spirit teaches us to have balance between your personal needs and those of the family and community.  Wolves are absolutely committed and loyal to the pack and find their place within the group.  If wolf exhibits these traits, it may mean that you must examine your function within the community and loyalty.  It may also be a sign to bring better balance to the varied interests of self, family and community.
  • The hunting techniques of wolves served as an example for many tribes who copied them.  Members of the pack form 'tag teams' who take turns chasing prey to exhaust the prey before themselves. Packs are known to have run over thirty miles a day in pursuit.  Cooperation in achieving a common goal is the message conveyed here.
  • Wolves have developed many ways to communicate by body language and vocally.  Facial expressions, tail and ear movements, body posture, teeth bearing, eye squinting and scratching are part of their vocabulary.  Vocally, a wide variety of growls, yelps, whines and howls make up a sophisticated system of communication.  Wolf language helps the pack to identify and locate its members, establish territorial boundaries, give instruction, request assistance, sound warnings, teach the young, and generally to bring cohesion and unity to the pack.  If a wolf or wolves have entered your physic, you are fortunate to have an animal spirit to knows the importance of communication and one that will find many ways to make their messages know to you.  This ability to communicate may be a sign to hone your own speaking skills to effectively relate your feelings and ideas in a good way - to pray, sing and dance in praise of the blessings of the Creator.
  • When a lone wolf is seen the wild it symbolizes freedom.  When seen in a pack it represents community. If wolf appears to you alone or in a pack it is asking you to acquire the same within your own life.
  • The primal and piercing howl of the wolf sometimes is marking their territory boundaries.  If you hear a wolf howl it might be telling you to stand your ground and defend your boundaries.
  • Wolves have great stamina and strength. They do not fight needlessly and often avoid fighting whenever possible.  Wolf teaches to know who you are and to develop strength and confidence.
  • Wolf is associated with the lunar influences and energies that rule psychic perception.  They teach us to respect our emotions and face the darkness within.
  • The wolf is ritualistic.  It knows the importance of regular lunar howling ceremonies and daily social rituals designed to communicate needs and express feelings.  The message of your wolf spirit may be to honor the forces of spirituality and connect with the life forces of Mother Earth.

How to Apply Wolves Teachings to Your Life
What is changing in your life at present? Notice your resistance to it and then chose to embrace it. You may want to use affirmations for this such as "I embrace change as a natural process of my life".
What illusions are you clinging too? Are you seeing the world through clouded vision. Is your view influenced by past experiences or expectations? Let it go so that you are able to see clearly with the vision of wolf.
Are you being called to share what you have learned with others? This could be through a traditional role as a teacher or as a leader in your field of expertise. It could be that you have much to share with your children. However you feel called to expres your teacher within Wolf is their to guide you.
Seek solitude. Set aside an hour where your family and friends know not to disturb you. Sometimes it is easier to relax outside of your home environment if this is possible go for a walk in the woods. This time will allow you to connect with the teacher within.
Look for lessons where ever you are. You may find it in the smallest feeling of irritation towards someone or by asking more questions. Situations to learn from are being presented to you so stay alert.

Wolf is a carnivore and lives in many areas such as, thickets, holes, and caves , called dens. Gray wolves, also known as Timber Wolves can be found in Northern Europe, Canada, Alaska and Russia. This wolf can also be found in the Northern United States.  The diet of wolves consists of vulnerable animals, such as, weak, sick, young or old prey. Depending on wolfs location its prey is white-tailed deer, moose, beaver, hare and other small mammals. Wolf requires at least 5 lbs of meat a day to survive. However wolf does not eat everyday. There are plenty of lean times before a feast of plenty. Wolf is an intelligent social animal with extremely keen senses. Its ability to survive depends on the total cooperation of the pack.
Wolf’s behavior is established upon a hierarchical structure. There is a definite order of rank. The leader of the pack is called the Alpha male and his mate is called the Alpha female.  Each wolf knows it place and responsibilities. Wolf has a complex method of communicating which involves body language and vocal skills . If you have a problem in expressing your thoughts, needs or ideas to others, take time to study wolf. Wolf’s message will teach you how to enhance your verbal communication skills with the appropriate body language.

Wolf’s medicine will help you gain your objectives through cooperative endeavors. Wolf’s message is the power to teach and share information. If Wolf has entered your life it is time to share knowledge by teaching, writing, and lecturing. Now is not the time to push ahead on your own. If you are experiencing family problems or conflict at work, try meeting with the whole "pack" to resolve difficulties.

Water Dreams

Dreams of traveling down waterways/waterslides with groups of people. In my dreams (I had this one again last night and have had similar ones before) it is a form of travel. It isn't on a boat or any other type of flotation device. It's more like canals and slides of rushing water. Instead of roads and cars, people float on these, but I never remember anyone being wet???

Legend of the Dreamcatcher

I made my very first dreamcatcher today for my baby girl, Liliana!

The dream net has been made

For many generations
Where spirit dreams have played.

Hung above the cradle board,

Or in the lodge up high,

The dream net catches bad dreams,

While good dreams slip on by.

Bad dreams become entangled

Among the sinew thread.

Good dreams slip through the center hole,

While you dream upon your bed.

This is an ancient legend,

Since dreams will never cease,

Hang this dream net above your bed,

Dream on, and be at peace.

Dreams and Animal Rescue

I just woke up from a dream of furry penguins coming to Louisiana as strays in container trucks. I was at a construction site and the little things were waddling around and getting burned by fire. They were DYING and I was mortified. I was looking around for someone to do something and couldn't believe they'd just walk into the fire...didn't they know they'd die??? Upon waking, I felt that somehow the dream had to do with my animal rescue aspirations and looking around for someone else to do something just isn't what I'm supposed to be doing.
