Bastard Child

I was born to a teenaged mother. She was 17 and my father was 16. I've never met him and the search exists to this day. Michael Christian Schultz- I will hopefully meet him someday. My mother married, Van Arnold Massey, Sr. at the age of 18 when I was 6 months old. He beat her regularly. Two years later she gave birth to my brother. She lost another baby when she was 6 months pregnant (he would punch her in the stomach even when she was pregnant). She had my sister two years after my brother. I remember, as a young child, watching my mother get beaten. She left him when I was five. She had another abusive boyfriend who also took things out on me as well. By the time I was in second grade at the age of seven, she took me, my brother & my sister and moved us to California with yet another new boyfriend. After being there for a year, she decided to bring us back to Arkansas. Her side of the story was that she felt bad for taking us away from "our" dad and wanted to let us spend the summer with him. We did not see her for another seven years. She says that he and his family told her she couldn't have us and that she did drugs and was in a serious depression because of it. Noone came to our rescue. My stepfather immediately started abusing me. I lived in Waldron, AR at the time. My mother was gone and I was a pedophile's plaything. It was a nightmare.

Jacee Dugard story

Watching the Jacee Dugard story tonight on E! Investigates prompted me to take some kind of action to seek justice for my own childhood abuse. The man who kept me from my mother, her ex-husband (NOT my birth father) is a pedophile with many victims. I last saw him at the age of fifteen. Today I am 31-years-old and, to the best of my knowledge, he is still free. This is excruciating for me to deal with...not what happened to me (I've dealt with this my whole life) but for anyone else that could have become his victim over these years. I really wish I knew what to do. The abuse took place in Arkansas. I was told to contact the authorities there, which I did a few years ago. They would not return my phone calls. The goal of this blog is to ultimately bring this man, Van Arnold Massey, Sr., to justice and help other abuse survivors and victims along the way. I will share my story in future entries and hope to hear from people with advice and who have their own stories to share as well.
